Koda Before & After
Koda Before & After

Koda, a young male cat just about 1 year old, was found outside bleeding to death in his yard, likely from a wild animal attack, given the brutality of his injuries. He was owned at the time I became aware of his needing life-saving help. His owner quickly realized that they couldn't afford the care he needed, and surrendered Koda. (At the time, his name was Koba. It was changed to Koda by a temporary foster who found out it meant 'ally' or 'friend' ).  Koda was rushed to CT Vet Center in very poor condition, with deep puncture wounds to his extremities, and abdomen. He spiked a high fever around 105 and climbing. The surgeon who could do his life-saving abdominal surgery came in the following morning. He was stabilized overnight, medications started, and was operated on the following day.  He had some concerning signs - free air in his abdomen which could just be from the trauma or a sign of more  significant issues.  Dr. Lindren, a well-respected surgeon amongst his colleagues, successfully completed Koda's life-saving abdominal surgery.  Healing was slow and had some bumps in the road, with some areas that were opening up and not healing as well as hoped. Because of their location and Koda's persistence, he was able to lick at them despite the usual post-surgical protective gear!  He was in the hospital for many days/nights.  Protectors of animals agreed to take Koda into their care where he won the hearts of volunteers very quickly. His family came for him not too long after his arrival, where he is loved and cherished.  This was a miraculous save!
