Wally - found shivering

Wally is a beautiful young orange and white male cat, found outside on the streets of Hartford, shivering from the cold, and too weak to move. He was lying in his own urine. His feeder noticed he had upper respitory symptoms that were getting increasingly worse and she reached out for help. I saw his photo posted on facebook, and soon after was in discussions with folks to transport him to Connecticut Veterinary Center to get urgent care through my fund. His 'before' photos are painful to look at, his face covered in blood from sneezing/from the URI. Despite it all, he was gentle and friendly, eager for love—grateful, strong, and ready to fight for a better life, his eyes hopeful. He not only allowed petting but welcomed it, even in the isolation ward of the ICU. Wally had many strikes against him medically: Besides a severe URI, fever, fleas, and worms, he was FIV positive and had significant anemia - which makes it harder to fight back from his conditions. The vets were guarded about his prognosis, but he was admitted to the ICU and given incredible care, and many medications for his conditions. His eyes could melt your heart, he was so grateful and loving, strong and resilient. He wasn't strong enough to be neutered, or to get his distemper shot, but he got his rabies shot.
Today, we’re thrilled to share that Wally has been adopted! He’s healthy, safe, and most importantly, loved.
Rescues like this wouldn't happen without your support. Thank you.
